Hi. I run Studio 81.
I'm a Christchurch-based photographer and have been taking photos for as long as I can remember.
I grew up with a small point-and-shoot film camera on hand at all times. Photography has always been a fun creative outlet for me, and I still enjoy it now that it's more than a hobby. My approach is always people-focused, capturing real moments.
I shoot both digital and film depending on the project. Both have their place: film for its grain and warmth, digital for reliability and volume.
Based in Christchurch, I travel throughout New Zealand for weddings and other photoshoots, alongside my trusty second shooter and sister :)
I'm always keen to try something new and work with you to ensure you get the result you're after with as little fuss as possible.
Shooting style
Candid
To make your photos bring back the memories, I try to capture them as they really happened. I observe the small moments, as well as the big ones.
Detail Focused
The small stuff — a glance, a brand detail, an aesthetic feature of the fit-out, they make up the tangible feel of the photos I capture.
Minimal Edits
No heavy filters, no smoothing everyone into looking the same. Just a clean, honest edit that lets the actual moment do the work.
